The Nyht Whisky Decanter is a condensed form, for short measured amounts of your spirit—more than a dram, less than a bottle. Inspired by the bedtime routine of carrying a carafe of water with inverted glass to the bedside, this decanter has been designed for the very specific and personal ritual of enjoying a few pours of whisky while engaged in a can’t-tear-yourself-away book, album, or film.

A ring is precision cut into the top of the decanter, allowing its partner, the Rauk Heavy Tumbler (250 ml size), to be inverted and docked. The two can then be carried one-handed, from the place you fill to the place you take seat. By mirroring the design language of the Heavy Tumbler, we have created a soulmate object set, for the times it is time to be alone.

A great little decanter - only 250ml so bare that in mind, great on the table side for a few pours throughout the evening. Exceptional quality glass and lid.

The Nyht Whisky Decanter is exhaustingly brought to life over the course of numerous processes. These include mouth blowing glass, cutting, drilling, grinding, manual and chemical polishing, sandblasting, and precision diamond wheel cutting. In all, there are over ten steps to producing the crystal vessel alone.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the purpose of a whisky decanter?

Unlike aged wine, whisky does not need a great deal of aeration to reveal the most flavor. (Our Norlan Whisky Glass was developed to reduce the sting of ethanol when nosing; so we're of the mind that some aeration in the glass is beneficial).

The purpose of a whisky decanter is therefore primarily decorative. A decanter enhances the presentation of your whisky, lending a touch of sophistication to your ritual.

Does the decanter lid form an airtight seal?

The aluminum lid for the Nyht Whisky Decanter primarily serves a decorative function and does not form a seal with the decanter mouth.

Due to the handmade nature of the glass, a perfect seal is not always possible. Some examples may show gaps between the lid and the decanter mouth. As a result, it is not recommended to use the decanter for storage, but as an elegant presentation vessel.

Is the whisky decanter intended for long-term storage?

The Nyht Whisky Decanter was developed as a sculptural object for the dispensation of one’s favorite whisky during an evening sitting. It is therefore not intended for the long-term storage of whisky, but rather as an elegant serving vessel.
